Keeping your garage tidy

This isn’t strictly about garage door springs, but it’s good to have an uncluttered and organised garage so that you can avoid the most common problem with garages - lack of space! No matter how big a garage is it seems that they get filled up very quickly and become unusable for anything other than junk. With a few handy tips you can stop this problem in its tracks and in the process have a clean and uncluttered garage fit for use.
First of all, making sure that all the things you use regularly are placed near the door with easy access is a great idea and should be common sense to anyone with a garage. Overhead garage storage is great for this. However I’m sure we’ve all had the problem of desperately needing an item that happens to be stacked under seemingly hundreds of boxes - so it’s a good idea to keep this in mind. With thinkgs such as gardening tools, if you have a side door it probably makes a lot of sense to place them there so that you can easily access them whenever needed when you’re out in the garden tending to the flowers.
A common use of the garage is for christmas decorations. While it might seem like a good idea after christmas to throw all the decorations back into the box near the back of the garage just to get them out of the way, in reality when the next holidays comes around it makes it much harder to find what you want. The same goes for other holidays such as Easter of Halloween. Make sure you keep all the decorations in the garage neatly piled and away from the door so you have easy access whenever you need them. Putting labels on the boxes makes it much easier in the future, because although you might remember what is in each garage box now in a years time your recollection may not be as sharp.
In fact this is a good general rule for the garage. If you have many indistinguishable boxes always put labels on the top and sides so you can quickly and painlessly identify them in the future. It will make future clearouts, searches and house moves a whole lot easier and save a lot of stress for not much extra work.
